Patrice Blais


Vice-President (ACCLAIMED)

Patrice has been a faculty member since 2009 and serving as vice-president of CUPFA since 2010, holding the portfolio of Grievances and Labour Relations.  He also has led the successful negotiations of the 4th, 5th and 6th Collective Agreement of the Association.  He has represented part time faculty on all major governing bodies of the university.

Patrice’s involvement with Concordia started earlier that while pursuing a BA with a major in Political Science (BA 2002).  He served in many roles in student government including President of the Concordia Student Union in 2001-2002.  He also served on multiple universities governing committees including the Board of Governors, Senate, the Arts & Sciences Faculty Council and the Concordia Council on Student Life (CCSL).

He later pursued a law degree from Université de Montréal (LLB 2005) and was called to the Quebec Bar in 2006.  He is a practicing lawyer in the fields of Not for Profit corporations, (a branch of corporate law) and Labour law.   He is also involved with mandates on corporate governance. 

Patrice has taught at Concordia in the Departments of Political Science and Management (and the former school of extended learning) in the fields of business, ethics, and employment law. 

He is also active at the national and international levels having presented at conferences of the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) and the coalition of contingent academic labour (COCAL).      

Involved in the greater community as well, Patrice is involved on numerous Board of Directors.  He current volunteers on the Board of Directors of Loisirs & Culture Sud Ouest, and the Concordia Student Broadcasting Corporation (CJLO Radio 1690AM).
